Tis the season for excessive amounts of cookies and glorious baked goodies! Fa-la-la-la-la…. la la la laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Everywhere I turn there are COOKIES! I love it… hate it….
LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
HATE.
help.
Last week I participated in the third round of the Blogger Sweet Swap hosted by the lovely Jessica and Amy. I was paired with Claire the RD, and (unbeknownst to her) she got to be my cookie guinea pig for two new recipes!
Mwah ha haaaaaaaa…..
First, I made these chocolate crinkle cookies:
These crinkles turned out super soft and fudgy… but as tasty as they were, I’d be lying if I didn’t tell ya I’d opt for just eating the big balls o’ fudge minus the powdered sugar next time.
They look like little brownies playing in the snow 🙂
The second type of cookie I made for the swap were these Coconut Macaroons courtesy of Alton Brown’s recipe for Paradise Cookies.
These cookies were kind of a pain in the butt to make, but holy wow, guys. If you like coconut you have GOT to make them! The sweetness of the coconut paired with the chocolate coating made my eyes flutter with joy when I took my first bite. Amazing.
So, what’s a gal to do with 5 dozen freshly baked cookies on her hands? Well I shipped some to my mom, some to my sister, ate about 2 dozen, and then sent some to Claire! You can check out her sweet recap here!
Next, it was on to baking some cookies for the Charlotte Food Bloggers cookie swap! I already had my eyes set on a new recipe: Browned Butter-Glazed Macadamia Moons!
These cookies were insanely addicting. I ate two before I even iced them! The cookies are soft, buttery, and nutty all wrapped up in a layer of sweet icing and slightly salty macadamia nuts. They tasted good for dessert, and with my morning coffee, and at lunch…
I wrapped a baker’s dozen of the macadamia moons up to take to the Charlotte Food Blogger meetup. Lucky dogs.
At the meetup, we each snagged one of our fellow food bloggers’ treats. Food bloggers know how to party. Am I right?!
Everything was delicious, naturally, but my FAVORITES were Julie’s Vegan Cranberry Orange Pecan Cake and Shannon’s ginormous Chai Snickerdoodles. I can’t wait to recreate these in my own kitchen!
And now all my cookies are gone… My heart is sad, and my pants are tight.
On the plus side, I’m heading home in a few days and will be spending all day Friday baking up even MORE Christmas cookies with my sister! Hallelujah.

Yay excess! I love how the holidays are like a free for all to go nuts on sugar!
Those all look so amazing! I feel you on the love/hate thing. I keep bringing all mine into work to let the vultures at it and take them away from me, my butt and my thighs.
I will GLADLY be your guinea pig anytime. Both cookies were incredible! Thank you and Merry Christmas! :)
"And now all my cookies are gone… My heart is sad, and my pants are tight." Hahahhaha!
PS.....I'm going to be in Charlotte around the end of January. Maybe we could do a blogger meet-up for drinks/dinner or something!
