Smashburger VIP

This weekend I got the VIP treatment at Charlotte’s soon-to-be opened SMASHBURGER.

I’d never been to a Smashburger before—and had to do a little googling to learn the story behind the name.

My research tells me the name Smashburger comes from the process used to cook burgers, which entails smashing a ball of 100% Certified Angus ground beef on a grill to sear in the juices (thank you Wikipedia!).

So how does that method play out on their chicken sandwiches?? Well, when the BF’s Spicy Baja SmashChicken sandwich came out I was surprised to see even the chicken was smashed into a large thin breast:

The spicy baja sandwich was smothered with pepper jack cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onion, chipotle mayo, and fresh jalapenos on a chipotle bun:

The guacamole was the piece de resistance!  SO DELICIOUS!

I went with the Mushroom Swiss mini-smashburger on an egg bun:

This wasn’t just a burger—this was a BURGER burger!  I took one bite and my eyes fluttered closed in the trademark “oh-my-god-this-is-so-friggin-delicious” Mary fashion.

This girl LOVES ketchup:

I also secretly love mustard

While I was in absolute Burger Bliss, we were brought some mini-shakes to sample:

We had apparently moved from Burger Bliss to Burger Heaven

The man’s favorite was the Banana Pudding Shake.  My favorite was the Nutter Butter:

Ohhhhh yessssssss…

As if that weren’t enough deliciousness, the awesome folks at Smashburger also brought us some SmashFries seasoned with rosemary to sample:

AND some fried pickles AND some haystack onions:

The BF getting to work:

This was a serious amount of food. My favorite of the three sides were definitely the fries.  The rosemary was just plain addicting!

Overall we had one great meal at Smashburger.

I’m excited to go back once they open the doors!

Mary

Hello! I’m Mary, a self-proclaimed fervent foodie and carbohydrate connoisseur. This blog is about my life—my passions, adventures, and failures—through food. I’m a bean counting CPA by trade, but my true passion is food. It is the unabashed soul of my being. The history, the culture, the taste, the experience–I am fascinated and enchanted by it all. I devote my free time almost entirely to scouting out delicious restaurants and cooking up new recipes. It makes me especially happy when I can take a recipe and “healthify” it. By this I mean turn it into something healthy and nutritious that still tastes friggin’ delicious. I love to connect with readers, restaurants, and those in public relations, so email me and let’s talk food! Google

    • They found my blog online and thought I'd be a good person to try out the grub before they opened their doors :)

  • So, what you're saying is I should go to the Smashburger that just opened in my town, like, tonight when I go to pick up my books from the library which is conveniently located across the street?

  • The name alone got me interested! And then my eyes feasted on those photos, omg! Must get to a location!

  • regardless of the food or anything else, this looks like such a cute restaurant simply because of the pics of you and the man. SO cute!
